How to Volunteer During COVID-19

Although it may not be the easiest to get together in person and volunteer, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other ways to help others. How to Volunteer During COVID-19

Here are a few suggestions to help get you started.

5 Ways to Volunteer During COVID-19

1. Donate to Food Banks

One of the easiest ways to get involved is by contributing your unopened canned goods and other non-perishable items to a food bank or charity. Donating does not take much of your time, and it helps with direct volunteer service efforts while still maintaining social distancing. By donating, you will be able to help feed many people who are less fortunate and in need of nourishment.

2. Donate Blood

Help save lives by donating blood. Blood donations are needed around the clock, and it is especially significant now as more people are admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19. With your help, you can ensure that hospitals have a stocked blood supply, so they can have the resources available to help patients who need it.

3. Thank First Responders

Throughout the pandemic, first responders have been working diligently to make sure that we have access to the care, food, and services we need. Take the time to show your appreciation for them by donating hot meals, texting family and friends who are essential workers and thanking them, or creating signs of thanks to display.

4. Tutor Online

As students continue to learn online this year, it creates more opportunities to help kids who may be struggling with a subject. You can volunteer to tutor these kids who may need additional help after school. In addition to helping kids, another way to help is to offer free classes about a variety of subjects to help others boost their knowledge in a new area.

5. Help the Disabled Virtually

Did you know that you can help some of those who are disabled online?

There are many apps and other programs that can help you bring sight to those who are blind or low-visioned.
